Anglo-welsh premiership?

Nigel Wray, the Saracens chairman has proposed that the four Welsh regions to join the Aviva Premiership.

Wray is backing moves to end the Heineken Cup and wants to see a proposed Anglo-French breakaway tournament start next season, but he believes an Anglo-Welsh league would help development on home soil.

In his view the current cross border competition, the LV= Cup is not fulfilling its promise and he would want to see the four Welsh regions – Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets in partnership with the Aviva Premiership sides.

“I feel we should have the Welsh clubs in the Premiership,” Wray said. “It would be a league to replace the LV Cup as what the customers wants are big games every weekend.”

NOW RUGBY has a poll on whether you, the fans, would want to see a new league involving just the English and Welsh teams, or the other Celtic teams as well, or perhaps you like things just as they are. Click on Read More to participate.
